1688: “Printen“, originally molded pastries, have been known to Aachen since primeval times. Henry Lambertz carries on this tradition, using the old model and recipes. On September 15, 1688, he is granted a license to open up a bakery, which is located on Aachen market. He calls it the “House to the Sun“.
1820: In 1820, Henry Lambertz IV. accomplishes an improvement that continues to have an effect today: He sweetens the “Printen“ dough with sugar syrup and soft brown sugar. In addition, he rolls it out evenly and cuts it into rectangles. The “Kräuterprinte“ is born. Another revolution also finds its way into to the house of Lambertz:
1860: From 1860 onward, steam engines are used in the production process of our traditional pastries.
1872: In 1872, a different Lambertz descendant covers the “Printe“ in chocolate: The “Lambertz Schokoprinte“ becomes Germany’s first chocolate-coated pastry, creating a basis for the delicious diversity of this Aachen specialty.
1938: In 1938, the “Saftprinte“ is developed at Lambertz. The politically difficult years and the ensuing war postpone its success for some time. At the end of the war, 75% of all factories will be destroyed. However, after a period of recovery, the “Lambertz Saftprinte“ continues on its trail to success, reaching beyond its traditional sales area of Rhineland and Westphalia, sparking an increasing interest among connoisseurs domestically as well as internationally.
1963: In 1963, a new production site is established on the outskirts of Aachen.
70s: At the beginning of the 1970s, Lambertz starts to diversify, adding many delicious pastries to its product line. In expanding our company by adding the traditional houses of Weiss, Kinkartz, and Haeberlein-Metzger, we are able to preserve and broaden the base of this regional tradition.
1994: Having largely been a regional manufacturer of classic gingerbread from Aachen, the traditional Henry Lambertz Company has its breakthrough in 1994, turning into a national enterprise. By taking over the Southern German gingerbread group “Max Weiss GmbH & Co.“ from Neu-Ulm and Nuremberg, the Aachen family enterprise, the oldest sweets brand in Germany, enters the top ranks of pastry manufacturers.
1998: In 1998, Lambertz is presented the prestigious “Goldener Zuckerhut” award by the “Lebensmittel Zeitung“(foods magazine).
1998: In 1998, Lambertz Polonia is founded.
Early 1999:
In early 1999, the Lambertz-Group takes over the traditional brands Kinkartz and Haeberlein Metzger from Schöller/Nuremberg. In addition to the trademark rights, Lambertz also purchases the production sites in Würselen and Aachen.
2000: In 2000, the annual turnover of the Lambertz-Group rises to DM 625 million.
2001: In 2001, “Feinbäckerei Otten“ takes over the Alzenau based “Scharschmidt“ company.
2005: In 2005, the annual turnover of the Lambertz-Group reaches EUR 436 million.

It is with pride that we look back on a tradition of more than 300 years of being a family enterprise.
